It's time to get students thinking and drinking healthy with the Milk: The Power Behind the Play Promotion! Read on for ideas.

Training Camp

Poster Play Off

Help students make the connection between the healthy benefits of milk and physical activity by creating their own Milk: The Power Behind the Play poster.

Download the miniposter. Each poster has space for students to draw a picture of themselves and record their own milk servings and physical activity. Build a home team Wall of Fame by posting students' mini posters in the cafeteria. Reward their hard work with a prize for students that participate.

Trainer Pep Talk

Invite a football coach, trainer or registered dietitian to talk to your student body about the healthy benefits of milk and physical activity for their bodies.

Ask students to keep Training Camp Diaries about healthy eating and physical activity throughout the promotion.

Create a pep rally to celebrate healthy lifestyles. Invite your guest to be a part of the pep rally.

Championship Series

Kick off an activities tournament. Ask each classroom-team to design a team emblem. Post a giant playoff bracket in the cafeteria to keep track of the winning teams. Create individual student goals and highlight MVPs. (Milk's Valuable Players) in the cafeteria each week. Provide nutritious snacks, like milk and yogurt, for the participants.

Make A 3-A-Day™ Play

Put those nutritious dairy favorites front and center by setting up a separate table or serving cart during lunch filled with flavored milk, string cheese and yogurt. All the "Write" Moves

Sponsor an essay contest in your school asking students to write how milk powers their daily physical activities. Select winners from each grade level to post in the cafeteria and on your school's Web site. Or print them in your school's newsletter. Take it another step by submitting a press release with the winners' names to your local newspaper. In coming months, follow-up with "The Write Stuff" contest.

Power Players

Start a school-wide council whose focus in on health and nutrition. Invite students, as well as parents, teachers, and other school staff members, to get involved in planning ongoing activities that promote healthy lifestyles throughout the school year. Hold an informational meeting to develop activity ideas, such as:

Assign teams of students and volunteers to each idea. Promote each activity to the whole school community with posters in the cafeteria, a message during the morning announcements, a reminder in your school newsletter, or even an article in your local newspaper!
